My Husband

I really must take this opportunity to counter my husbands comments in the previous entry.

He IS Amazing!

When I read through the scriptures how a husband is to love his wife, time and time again ,situation after situation is called to mind which clearly illustrates how Kevin loves me in the ways he is called to.

I have told him on numerous occasions that I am convinced that God brought him into my life to show me how God loves us.

There have been entirely too many embarrassing times in which words have shot out of my mouth (just this week in fact) that later pierce through my heart as I realize the ways I have disrespected him with my tone, words and often actions. And yet he still loves me. After reconciliation occurs he always embraces me with welcoming arms that harbor no resentment, unforgiveness, or bitterness.

I often feel like Gomer & Hosea. I do so many shameful things and yet Kevin continues to love me and believe in me. This is a gift far beyond any tangible, materialistic thing. One in which I am so undeserving but truly grateful.

Thank You sweetie for loving me the way you do. I know God is not through with me yet! Thank you for believing in me!

My Valentine (from Kevin McMillan)

I used to work with a man who said "Merry Christmas" to people all year long. His point was that the birth of Christ is a blessing that we can enjoy all the time . . . i.e., every day is Christmas. The same should be true for Valentine's Day . . . or at least in my case.

If you have a wonderful wife, as I do, then each day should be Valentine's. Not just on February 14th, but every day, we should shower our wives with affection (whatever says "I LOVE YOU" to them).

Unfortunately, I often fail to remind her every day how much I love and appreciate her (just like Christmas).

As many men, I could do what our society has set as the standard for V-day (e.g., flowers, card, chocolate), or I could try to do something BIG (perhaps to make up for the past year). Several things come to mind that she would appreciate. Unfortunately, finances seem to be more restricting than ever (sorry sweetie, no trip to Italy this weekend).

However, this year I have decided to make a renewed (and public) commitment to love my wife each day the way she deserves, how CHRIST wants me to, and as an overflow of how my heart feels.

Lesli,

I am sorry that I have not shown you each day the love GOD has given me for you and expressed how much I appreciate who you are and what you have done for me, our family, and those around you. There is no one like you, and I would choose no other to be my wife and the mother of our children.

ILY
