This picture may look very innocent...but what you cannot see is that Christian has no diaper on! He simply has a shirt wrapped around his little peter.
Why, you ask, does the poor lad have no diaper on?
New Moms every where tune in to prevent experiencing such an encounter.
We had finally made it to the park. It had been a long day and I wanted to let Emily run and be free! We'll go to the park, was my grand idea! Little did I know what lie in waiting around the corner.
When we arrived at the park, I got the stroller out first, figuring I would pop Shep in first and secure him and then let Emily walk.
After getting the stroller out I moved on to Christian. Sniff, Sniff. Smells funny. Surely, he has not gone pooh after I JUST changed him. Very delicately I pull him out of the car seat so as to prevent any squishing and oozing.
I peek into the back side of his diaper and sure enough...there is pooh!
Quickly I lay the changing pad down, pull off his pants as carefully as I can and proceed to take off the diaper and clean his little bobie.
And then I remembered...there was only one diaper in the diaper bag yesterday and we went to nursery! Surely there was still one on there.
I look,
no diaper.
I am holding a naked little boy with no diaper! I can't put him on the ground, what am I going to do!
So I go around back and explain to Emily that we are experiencing delays in our departure time. She expresses her disappointment and I pray for patience.
I lay Christian in the back of the van and let him crawl around (without a diaper on) I search and search. Of course I have some hidden diapers somewhere. I know I left some back here somewhere.
I look everywhere, None.
Then I get back into the van, holding a naked baby boy.
I search the front seat, middle seat...no diapers!
What am I going to do? I really want to go for a walk and how will I explain this to my poor daughter who has already had numerous disappointments, that we have to go home without walking around the lake? (those of you without kids, have no idea how hard it can be to explain to a three year old that plans have changed. and the plans are not taking a turn for the better)
Defeated, I explain to Emily that brother has gone pooh and mommy has no diapers (three cheers for mom!) We have to go home and get him a diaper. We will have to come back to the park later. She took the news pretty well.
What, you ask did I do with my poor diaperless son?
I wrapped him up with his spare onesie (which I did manage to have on hand) and drove home.
Lesson Learned....
At the very moment I returned home, I went inside, grabbed a diaper bag and stocked it full to the brim with everything I could possible think of!
Next time I will be prepared!

In case you are wondering...when I got home, the shirt was wet!
